On Saturday June 29th, 2019 at approximately 0524 hrs Deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 18900 block of Avenue 184 in Porterville regarding a suspicious circumstance. The caller advised a known female identified as Sherri Telnas 45 years of age was acting strangely and had taken her two male children ages seven and twelve to a field across the street. While Deputies were en-route to the crime scene they were notified the two children were located in a full irrigation ditch near a corn field and were not responsive. Deputies arrived and rendered medical aid. Both juveniles were taken to a local hospital where the 12 year old juvenile succumbed to his injuries. The female was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

****UPDATE****

On July 7th, 2019 at approximately 0230 hrs the seven year old male passed away at a local hospital as a result of injuries sustained on June 29th. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
