Tulare County Gang Violence Suppression Unit Interagency Gang Enforcement Team

            On the nights of March 25 and March 26, 2016 from the hours of 1800 to 2330, the Tulare County Gang Violence Suppression Unit and the Interagency Gang Enforcement Team  along with Gang Investigators from the California Highway Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation- OCS-SSU,  Exeter, Farmersville, Tulare and Visalia Police departments and the TARGET Gang Task force conducted Gang Suppression activities in the communities of Tipton, Pixley, Earlimart, Poplar, Plainview, Woodville, Goshen, Exeter, Famersville, Ivanhoe, Cutler-Orosi and Visalia.

This was a zero tolerance crime detail in the listed communities focused on the suppression of gang violence, identifying gang members and gaining gang intelligence. During this detail, the following criminal gang activity was noted over the two days of the operation:

 

Twenty three (23) Gang members were identified and documented.

Two (2) loaded firearms were recovered.

Two (2) northern Gang members were arrested for Possession of a Controlled substance (11377(a) H&S)

One (1) Northern Gang member was arrested for Possession of narcotic paraphernalia (11364 H&S)

Four (4) Gang members, 3 Northern and 1 Southern, gang members were arrested for under the influence of a controlled substance (11550 H&S)

Two (2) Public intoxication arrests.

Four (4) Misdemeanor arrest warrants served.

One (1) Felony arrest warrant served.

One Runaway Juvenile Northern gang member was recovered.

Julian Garcia MH/ 18 yrs,  Earlimart, a known Northern Gang member, was arrested for Violation of the Earlimart Gang Injunction, Garcia was contacted in regards to suspicious activity and found in the presence of other gang members and under the influence. Garcia was taken into custody without incident and booked at the APTF on 166(a)(d) PC.

 

Saul Tinoco MH/ 24 yrs,  Earlimart, a known Northern Gang member, was arrested for Violation of the Earlimart Gang Injunction. Tinoco was contacted in regards to a check the welfare and found to be intoxicated in a public place and in possession of a dangerous weapon (Machete) which is a violation of the Earlimart Gang Injunction. Tinoco was taken into custody without incident and booked at the APTF on 166(a)(d) PC.

 

Jessie Gallegos Benavides NH/ 24 yrs Earlimart, a Southern Gang member, was contacted in regards to traffic violation in his vehicle in the area of 12800 Avenue 56. Benavides was found to be on probation and a convicted felon. A search of his vehicle was conducted. Benavides was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber revolver which was loaded and he had more ammunition for the weapon. Benavidez was arrested without incident and booked at APTF for 29800(a) PC, 30305(a) PC.

 

 

Bounthan See  MO/ 27 yrs  Visalia, an Asian Gang member, was contacted at a residence in 800 block of North Leslie Street in Visalia in regards to his active felony arrest warrants. See was also wanted for absconding from parole. See was found hiding in a kitchen cabinet and was taken into custody after a short struggle. See was booked at the APTF on the Felony warrant and Parole Violation (3056 PC).

Damone Mayberry MB/ 41 yrs  Visalia, a known Crip Gang member was contacted in regards to a disturbance in the 1400 block of East Douglas Avenue.  Mayberry, who is on probation and a convicted felon, was found to have a loaded shotgun in his vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident and booked at the APTF for 29800(a) PC and 30305(a) PC.

 

            Booking photos are available through the Main Jail. These types of suppression activities show how important interagency cooperation is in the suppression of gang violence.
