Assessment Technicians determine whether or not a transfer of property interest is a reassessable event. They also determine whether an assessment exemption or exclusion from reassessment exists, such as a transfer between spouses or a parent-to-child transfer.
Assessment Technicians verify and maintain real property ownership records using various sources. These include documents on file with the County Recorder, such as:
Grant Deeds
Quit Claim Deeds
Trust Deeds
Court Orders such as Judgment Quieting Title
A document not representing the grantors as the current owners may require correction and re-recording. A document that is not re-recorded to correct the discrepancy creates a cloud on title of the real property.
