To begin your online purchase of a marriage certificate, you will need to submit a request to a third-party vendor.

  • VitalChek will validate your information

  • The Tulare County Clerk-Recorder will mail your order directly to the address given to VitalChek

The County of Tulare is not responsible for the delivery of mail by the United States Post Office or any other delivery service.

If you need to purchase a marriage certificate quickly, stop by the County Clerk's Office after taking the following steps:

• Complete the online application before you arrive

• For confidential marriage requests, click for this online application

• Bring government-issued ID (for authorized copies)

• Bring payment in the form of a credit card, check, money order or cash

• After submitting your online application, you can pick up your certificate at our office anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you live outside of Tulare County and would like to purchase a marriage certificate by mail, you can do so by:

• Complete an application by following the instructions on page 4 of marriage record application

• Having your signature on the application notarized

• Please include with your application a check or money order made payable to the Tulare County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder

  • Please do not submit cash with orders requested by mail

  • The fee for searching a record is not refundable. If no record is found, you will receive a Certificate of No Record.
