To begin your online purchase of a death certificate, you will need to submit a request to a third-party vendor.

• Fill out the secure VitalChek form

  • VitalChek will validate your information

  • The Tulare County County Clerk-Recorder will mail your order directly to address given to VitalChek

Note: The County of Tulare is not responsible for the delivery of mail by the United States Post Office or any other delivery service.

• Complete the online application before you arrive

• Bring payment in the form of a credit card, check, money order or cash

• Once your online application has been submitted, you will be prompted to get your form notarized and mail it in. This step is unnecessary if you are picking up your records in person, as our office will confirm your identity by asking you to present your valid government-issued ID.

If you would like to purchase a death certificate by mail, you can do so by:

• Completing an application

• Following the instructions on page 4, "Death Record Copy Application."

• Have your signature on the application notarized by a notary public.

• Mail your application and a check or money order made payable to the Tulare County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder

  • Please do not submit cash with orders requested by mail.

  • The fee for searching a record is not refundable. If no record is found, you will receive a Certificate of No Record.
