Reedley Police Dog Escapes Visalia Home During Fireworks, Have You Seen Him?

Around 11 p.m. on July 4th, the Reedley Police Department received a call that one of its police dogs had escaped from a handler's garage in Visalia. The dog became agitated because of nearby fireworks and managed to get out. Reedley Police Officers and TCSO Deputies immediately began a search for the dog. The dog had a tracker on its collar, which led officers to the 14000 block of Avenue 280 outside the city limits of Visalia. Unfortunately, the tracker came off of from the dog's collar and the search continued. Kona is a 10-year-old German Shepherd that weighs about 80 pounds. He has a sable-colored coat and wears a black flat nylon collar with no other identifiable tags. Kona is a well-trained police dog, who is social and even-tempered. He has extensive experience in dealing with the public.
