Retired TCSO Sergeant Thanks Sheriff After Wife’s Ashes Are Stolen During Burglary

Retired TCSO Sergeant Lowell Mawhiney, his two daughters, Cindy Grim (husband Ray) and Peggy Baughman (husband James, also a retired sergeant for TCSO) and grandson Scott Baughman hand delivered a thank you letter to Sheriff Mike Boudreaux on  2/21/23 at Headquarters. Lowell's home had been burglarized, and priceless items were taken, including an urn with his wife's cremains. His wife, Ruth Mawhiney, was an emergency dispatcher here for many years. Our Detectives were able to find the suspect, arrest him and return the urn back to Lowell, among other stolen items.

“This case is not only a credit to these Deputies but to the entire Tulare County Sheriff’s Office,” Lowell said. “I want to say to all involved: Well done and thank you! Your work is appreciated.”
