Salt + Light's Neighborhood Village: A New Opportunity in Goshen

On November 11, 2020, local non-profit Salt + Light submitted a proposal for a 52-unit village to the Resource Management Agency (RMA), taking a significant step in addressing Tulare County’s housing challenges. Developed in partnership with Self Help Enterprises (SHE), the Neighborhood Village was designed to provide permanent supportive housing in the Goshen Village East area. After years of collaboration and overcoming challenges, the Neighborhood Village opened its doors to new residents on September 26, 2024.

What's Going on in Goshen?

If you've recently driven up the 99, you may have noticed a new, taller sign rising off Betty Drive in Goshen, just a bit taller than the orange truck at Valley Fuel Travel Plaza Chevron across the way. This sign reflects the Resource Management Agency's (RMA) commitment to efficient, customer-friendly service and speedy permit approvals.

2024 Chip Sealing
2024 Chip Sealing

Our Chip Crew will begin chip sealing 75 miles of road in County areas throughout the next four weeks. Chip sealing is one way to keep water from penetrating the road by sealing cracks and raveled surfaces of old pavement. The Chip Seal Program starts on August 19, 2024, and ends on September 12, 2024. Please plan your trips accordingly to avoid delays.

Changes in the Planning Division, including a farewell to Retiree Susan Simon

Changes are coming to the Tulare County Planning Department. We are saying farewell to Susan Simon after 16 years with the County. She accomplished so much and has been recognized for her effort including awards from the Central Valley Section of the California American Planning Association (CAPA) for the planning of 17 communities in Tulare County, and the CAPA runner up award for Outreach.

Grants and Resources Division Update
Grants and Resources Division Update

The RMA’s Grants and Resources team works to find funding opportunities across a variety of projects. Recently, the RMA was awarded $5.3 million through the Federal PROTECT Grant Program for Improvements to Avenue 56 for Sustained Resilience Against Future Flooding. The project will construct a permanent elevated roadway and widen the roadway to ensure it will be operational during future flooding events and provide critical access to western Tulare County during flood events.
