The RMA’s Grants and Resources team works to find funding opportunities across a variety of projects. Recently, the RMA was awarded $5.3 million through the Federal PROTECT Grant Program for Improvements to Avenue 56 for Sustained Resilience Against Future Flooding. The project will construct a permanent elevated roadway and widen the roadway to ensure it will be operational during future flooding events and provide critical access to western Tulare County during flood events.
The Grants and Resources team also secured funding from the Federal Department of Transportation Thriving Communities Grant Program for the Community of Pixley to participate in the Networked Communities initiative and assist the community in preparing innovative grant applications for Federal Funding opportunities.
The RMA received an additional award of $466,103 from the Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program through the Sierra Nevada Conservancy to support the Forest Health initiative and project development for the Grouse Valley Fuels Reduction Project.
The Grants and Resources team also coordinated with the City of Visalia to submit a $12 million Active Transportation Cycle 7 grant application for the Goshen-Visalia connectivity project.
Lastly, the Grants and Resources team submitted a $250,000 CalOES Extreme Heat grant application to complete a meteorological study to inform Flood Control and other extreme weather responses.
