The RMA Payroll Team has a demanding yet rewarding area of responsibility. From crunching numbers to adhering to tight deadlines, they ensure everyone is paid on time—sometimes working late into the evening to get the job done. The team consists of Debbie and Anet, two dedicated members of the Fiscal and Administrative Services team.
Debbie, who was in payroll for 30+ years and a payroll manager at Family HealthCare Network (FHCN) for 7 years before joining the RMA, has had a long and rewarding career. She initially planned to retire to Texas, but life had other plans, and she soon realized the timing wasn’t right. After taking an 8-month break, Debbie recognized that she wasn’t ready to retire—her hardworking nature and desire for camaraderie and social interaction led her to return to work. However, she was no longer seeking a full-time managerial role. Instead, she wanted to focus on the work itself, without having to manage others. Her desire was to be a “worker bee.”
Debbie’s extensive experience spans the private, public, and government sectors, giving her a wealth of knowledge in payroll. The biggest challenge in her current role has been implementing the software Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM). The RMA has been utilizing Wincams for payroll and the County-wide transition to Oracle has added more responsibilities to her plateHowever, Debbie was well-prepared for the hurdles that came with this transition, and it helped that her team grew with the addition of Anet in 2024.
“I love the people I work with, and I think this is a great department. Anet has been a tremendous help, and I was happy to get a second person here,” Debbie shared.
Anet, who also came from FHCN, brought valuable experience in software implementations for the team. In her previous role, she had undergone multiple new software implementations that required a lot of patience and knowledge. Although she had no previous payroll experience, Anet was eager to learn and saw this as an opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge in the field. Debbie recognized Anet’s potential, impressed by her quick thinking, common sense, and dedication to getting the job done. With plans to retire within the next five years, Debbie is focused on training Anet to take over the role when she leaves.
“It’s been great. I’ve been learning from the pro [Debbie], and so far I’m loving it,” Anet said.
Together, Debbie and Anet form a strong payroll team, ensuring RMA team members are paid accurately and on time
